The seminar titled “Different Career Paths in Tourism and Sustainable Tourism” was organized on May 20, 2026, by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Tourism to enable students to follow current developments in the sector and gain information about different career opportunities.

The seminar, held in the Faculty Conference Hall, featured speakers including Hotel Manager Nevin Gündüz, Sustainable Tourism Expert Kübra Küçükerdem, Consultant Betül Saygılı, and Travelife and GSTC Auditor Işıl D. Düzgünçınar.

The seminar addressed new career fields emerging in line with the transformations occurring in the global tourism sector and sustainable tourism practices. Information was provided by the speakers on rising professions such as sustainable tourism auditing, destination auditing, destination marketing expertise, and occupational health and safety expertise.

Additionally, the importance of energy conservation in tourism businesses, zero waste management, environmentally friendly certification processes, and sustainable management practices in the sector was emphasized during the event. Students were informed about “green skills” such as environmental awareness, sustainability-focused thinking, and resource management that are expected from future tourism professionals.

The seminar, which attracted great interest, continued with an interactive question-and-answer session where students directed their questions. Through the event, students had the opportunity to gain information about different career paths they could consider after graduation, while also having the chance to listen to experts about the applications of the sustainability concept in the tourism sector.

The seminar organized by the Faculty of Tourism was evaluated as an important event not only for contributing to the professional development of students but also for raising awareness about the current needs of the sector and future areas of transformation.
